No. This course is designed for English-speaking Muslims, and every explanation is given in clear English. When Arabic terms come up — and they will — they’re explained before they’re used, so you never feel lost in vocabulary you don’t recognise.
The one prerequisite is basic Quran reading ability, because you need to be able to read the Arabic text as you study its meaning. If you can’t read Quran yet, start with our Learn to Read Quran course first. Some students take both in parallel: reading in one lesson, Tafseer in the next.
If you already speak Arabic, your tutor will draw on the language more deeply as you progress. If you don’t, you’ll still develop a rich understanding of the Quran through the classical explanations delivered in English.

It depends entirely on which path you take. Juz Amma Tafseer usually takes three to five months at two lessons per week. Selected longer surahs add months on top of that depending on which surahs you choose. Complete Quran Tafseer is a multi-year journey. Your tutor will give you a realistic timeline based on your goal and pace after the free trial.
Yes, and many students do. Understanding a surah's meaning often makes memorisation faster because the words are no longer abstract. If you're taking Hifz, we usually recommend establishing your memorisation routine first, then adding Tafseer sessions in parallel. Your tutor will help you plan a sustainable weekly schedule that doesn't overwhelm either study.
Yes. You can request a qualified female Tafseer instructor at booking, and your entire course will be taught by a female tutor. Male learners can request a male tutor in the same way.
